órale!

via Peligrosa blog

In other Texas news, looks like I’ll be attending SXSW for the first time. There is a ton to do obviously, most of it not worth anyone’s time, but if anyone has any recommendations hit me up!

somali jams

Since blogging has been slow here lately due to California winter (a.k.a. spring) laziness & outdoorsy-ness, I figured I would try and pull off a hat trick tonight.

Easily the chillest jam, no? Or is it? Like all great songs, slowing it down merely enables the listener to further revel in the track’s awesomeness, which has just been transformed into a nearly 10 minute epic.

kudayo Puntland kudayo siday Bulshadeedu tahay (screwed version)

I tip my proverbial hat to my buddy Jason Urick for this one.

Crash Course in Science – Pompeii Saved

Pompeii was not saved. Pompeii is a lie. Pompeii was saved by the mythology of the natural forces of the universe. Pompeii was saved by a lie, pompeii is not what a pompeii is what a pompeii does.

———>>>>> This way

Mechanical movements all the way up to celestial bodies. Dancing, music, and Mubarek are all products of a fundamentally mechanistically conceived universe. Where there is probability, there are merely new mechanisms to be designed. Eventually, even robots choose to smile.

Ballet Mecanique

This is so much wiredness.

Acanthus

I saw Shiver of the Vampire in Chicago (RIP Jean Rollin) maybe four years ago? Most likely a rental from Odd Obsessions. Even though I’m pretty sure I watched the movie sober, I don’t really remember a thing about it aside from the soundtrack, which was fantastic. It was composed by some French band called Acanthus whose members were all in high school, and according to one internet account, met during May ’68. Don’t know anything else about them, as far as I know their existence begins and ends with this film. The music is great though, on a doomy Pink Floyd tip.

Acanthus – Night Excursion

Soundtrack music is fantastic. Distilling musical vision into 45 second to 2 and a half minute gems.

Gucci Mane – What I Do

That’s off of the new mixtape, and the only track of the bunch that I’m feeling. The end of the track has some synths on some German techno trip.

young l – conscious minds

So just set aside, for the moment, the rapping (over at Space Age Hustle there is contemplation of putting Jay Electronica on top of this, sounds like a great idea to me), and concentrate on that beat. Digital dub vibes aplenty. Appreciated. Also the chain in the video with the Boo ghost from Super Mario.

Squadda Bambino – Chapter One Status

Dope space rap jams with mellow organ grips, tight rapping, and some weird ass ending. It’s a wonderful world out there.
