innergaze – midnight riding

Lovingly emulated classic house track with sweet video effects backdrop. Stoked to see Innergaze in a week or so.

chicago is always legendary

what the fuck. jamming this late at night.

I remember when I was in France I told some guy I was from Chicago, and he asked me if I had ever been shot. No one asks me that anymore, what the hell.

this track is so serious

This is the sound Kraftwerk gripped for their reconstruction album, The Mix. The original version of this tune features some insane breakdowns, but also features a lot of really typically cheesy house stuff… as well as a couple of not so typically cheesy parts. This version is so deep though, no filler.

jukin’ mixes for all the real dancers

Big ups to XLR8R for getting DJ Rashad (w/ some help from DJ Spinn) to put together this banging mix. My personal favorite is “All I Do is Smoke Trees”, but the whole mix is great from start to finish, and really is a perfect example of all the awesome energy and inspiration coming out of Chicago.

mega-blogg

This Lil B riddim is so great.

Proto-Acid House from India

Super Early Kraftwerk (Vintage ’71)

Digital Dub

Scissor Girls, “Mr. Poison”. I always forget how great Chicago no-wave was.

Don’t remember where I downloaded this from, which are the best downloads. From a practice tape by Population. Fucked up post-punk cover. Seems like the internet made us all forget we are on the brink of annihilation.

UPDATE: WFMU reveals the original of this cover Eisbar. Categorized as Swiss art-punk. Works for me. The original has some funny saxophoning at the end.

And, of course, the classic Samuel L. Jackson B-more Club mix.

That’s probably good for now.

living in the age of an aquarium

When DJ / Rupture and Matt Shadetek decided to go with an underwater concept for their album Solar Life Raft they were of course following a fairly rich history in electronic music of utilizing such thematics, for example, with Drexciya’s Bubble Metropolis. U.R. also did a bit of an acid house banger with a track called Submerge.

bangy ragga

neat mixtape here that blends a lot of great stuff like old Chicago house, bashment, modern dancehall, etc.
